Production Laborer
North Tonawanda, NY
Job Responsibilities
- Assist in the production of quality product both efficiently and at the set standards.
- Assist Operator in keeping work area clean with minimal dust accumulation.
- Understand and comply with all company, state, and federal safety and health policies (OSHA, EPA, etc.).
- Forklift Operators must complete a forklift inspection sheet on each shift before operating a forklift and must exercise caution when moving/loading rolls and bales that weigh up to 1,500 lbs.
- Report any unsafe condition, concern, or incident to a Supervisor.
- Position has Lock Out Tag Out and Confined Space responsibilities.
Duties
- Keep cutters loaded and maintain quality standards while achieving standards of production.
- Feed raw materials into cutters
- Check dust collector at least two times per shift.
- Monitor amps on cutters.
- Monitor temperatures on cutters.
- Collect quality samples every 10 bags or 1 sample per bulk bag.
- Clean magnets as required.
- Follow all quality systems directives, such as lot traceability and hold process.
- Follow the Mill Order for packaging requirements and other special instructions.
- Perform other related duties and assignments as directed by Plant Supervision and Production Operator.
- Move necessary raw materials (pallets, bales, cellulose rolls, proper bags, etc.) by forklift and transfer finished product into the warehouse.
Minimum Job Requirements, Skills and Qualifications
- Minimum High School diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to work with others to complete task.
- Union experience desired.
Certifications/Licenses
- Valid NY Driver’s License.
- Forklift Certification.
Interactions and Tools/Equipment Utilized in the Job
- Position requires the use of a respiratory mask, hearing protection, safety shoes and gloves.
- Good verbal and written communications with co-workers, supervisors and others.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to perform heavy manual labor, including continuous lifting of up to 50 lbs.
- Must be able to comfortably reach up above shoulders in order to build pallets.
- Must be able to work from heights with the assistance of proper safety equipment.
- Ability to work comfortably in varying degrees of temperature.
- Must be able to climb stairs and ladders to perform job.
- Ability to bend and lift material onto feed tables and “shake” rags to condition material for processing.
Other Information
- All rules and regulations of the Employee Handbook apply at all times.
- 8 hours daily Monday – Friday. Overtime as needed.
- Hourly; commensurate with experience (wage range has been established by HR)
- Hiring for 2nd and 3rd shift..
