Product Manager – Dietary Fibers

Job Responsibilities
  • Communicate on a regular basis with Director of Sales, field sales account managers, customers, and all internal departments.
  • Assist CEO, Director of Sales, and sales representatives with quotations and established pricing mechanisms, inventory status on key products, sample provisions, customer and competitor research, market trend analysis and updates, and any other assigned projects as deemed necessary.
  • Business travel may be required but would be less than 25% of time.


Duties
  • Support all Business Unit Food and Petfood field sales account managers to analyze customer data. Establish tools/reports to identify trends, order patterns, etc. Send regular updates to rest of organization to help establish better communications across departments.
  • Provide feedback on any competitive market intelligence and technology trends within related industry segments.
  • Be the liaison between sales, application development, marketing and customer trends.
  • Gather and prioritize product and customer requirements defining the product vision and working closeli with engineering, sales, marketing and support to ensure positive revenue and customer satisfaction.
  • Manage product inventory levels for all Dietary Fibers and Compounds. Also coordinate and assist the Product Sales Manager for Functional Cellulose Product levels when necessary.
  • Establish better internal forecast system like MRP in SAP B1 to maintain adequate inventory levels of all products by working with a cross functional internal team.
  • Initiate, track, and implement all new product activation forms for Food and Petfood divisions. Determine specifications and product time tables.
  • Assist with creating any price quotations or supply agreements for Food and Petfood Business Units as needed. Distribute to appropriate groups will be necessary.
  • Maintain pricing information for all customers in SAP to ensure correct pricing is charged on Invoices as coordinated with the Sales Support Assistant. Critical items will be DeEscaltor/Escalator pricing mechanisms.
  • Review Call Reports to gather any competitive information or market trends and share with the team.
  • Utilize market research tool, Datamonitor, to observe industry trends or new product ideas and application development.
  • Support product development activities in cooperation with Director of Innovation and Director of R&D.
  • Research customer or market information as directed by CEO or Director of Sales.
  • Develop database with competitors, market data, and any other pertinent information to share internally.
  • Conceptualize sales supporting materials to increase sales in both USA and Exports/International.
  • Participate in local, regional, and national trade shows that pertain to each industry serviced may be necessary. Attendance at sales meetings and other organized company events will be required on a periodic basis.
  • Assist CEO and Director of Sales with various office tasks and complete any special projects or other duties that may be assigned by managers at any time.


Minimum Job Requirements, Skills and Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university is required. Food Science, Grain Science, Nutrition or other related course of study is preferred.
  • Strong sense of customer urgency.
  • One to Two years equivalent job experience in an industrial/manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Able to effectively communicate on the telephone and maintain composure under high stress situations.
  • Ability to perform in a fast paced environment.
  • Must be able to work independently.
  • Competent writer of business letters/e-mails.
  • Adept in use of MS Office, particularly Outlook, Excel and Word, and ideally Power Point to basic level.
  • Experience with order processing software, preferably SAP or Business One preferred.
  • Able to perform basic business math calculations.
  • Good typing skills (60 words per minute; 10-key).
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Flexibility to adjust schedule as needed to meet business demands.

Interactions and Tools/Equipment Utilized in the Job
  • Interacts with external sales personnel, customers, and all internal departments on a regular basis (telephone, e-mail, fax, mail).
  • Consults with sales personnel and staff in Logistics, Warehouses, Production and QA/QC.
  • Utilizes standard office equipment and computer work station.
Physical Requirements

The job requires sitting, typing and viewing computer screen for long periods of time. Will require ability to lift objects <50 lbs. for various product samples, brochures, boxes, office equipment, etc.

Other Information
  • Standard working hours: 8:00 am – 5:00 pm, Monday – Friday. Overtime as needed.
