SR. HR Generalist

Schoolcraft, MI

Job Responsibilities
  • Collaborated with HR Manager for special projects that are assigned by the CEO that are time sensitive.
  • Responsible for writing and revising policies, procedures to include Employee Handbook.
  • Assisting HR Manager with employee investigations.
  • Full cycle recruiting for exempt positions to include onboarding.
  • Facilitate productive relationships with all levels of the Management team including Senior Leadership.
Duties

HR

  • Maintains compliance with state and federal employment laws as well as company policies and procedures.
  • Investigates employee relations issues and collaborates with HR Manager to seek resolution.
  • Responds to and represents the Company regarding unemployment claims and hearings.
  • Leave management (FMLA, Non-FMLA, Work Comp, STD, personal leaves) to include educating employees on process.
  • Launch and manage performance review process in DayForce.
  • Assist with HR Manager in calculating In2Win, performance bonus and compensation changes.

Payroll

  • Coordinate with HR team weekly to accurately process payroll in assigned plant locations.
  • Monitor attendance management for all hourly employees.

Recruiting

  • Work with Hiring Managers for key job postings to determine needs while cross-referencing company objectives for exempt positions or non-production non-exempt positions as needed.
  • Coordinate with staffing agencies on staffing needs, contracts, billing rate and job fairs.

Other Duties

  • Participate with employee engagement committee meetings.
  • Periodically attend operations meeting and provide details/agenda to HR Team.
  • Travel to plants to build rapport while representing the JRS HR Team in a professional manner.
  • Support HR front office as needed with administrative duties.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Job Requirements, Skills and Qualifications
  • Four-year degree from an accredited University in a relevant field.
  • 10+ years of experience in a Human Resources position(s) preferable in manufacturing.
  • Experience in employee investigations, writing policies & procedures, revising employee handbooks and compensation.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Possess exceptional interpersonal communication skills.
  • Must be an articulate, reliable, detail oriented and solution minded individual with a "can do attitude".
  • Desire to work with Leadership teams to build productive relationships.
  • Ability to multi-task and perform in a fast-paced environment and maintain composure in demanding situations.
  • Must be able to work independently and with initiative within the assigned area of responsibility.
  • Strong time management/organizational skills and flexibility to adjust priorities as needed.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information in a highly discreet manner.
  • Must have advanced skills with MS Office, particularly Outlook, Excel and Word or willingness to learn.
  • Respond to questions in a timely manner while providing excellent customer service.
  • Support positive team morale and environment while aligning with company goals.
  • Regular and predictable attendance to create good working relationship with team.
Certifications/Licenses

SHRM-CP or PHR certification preferred or willing to obtain in a timely fashion.

Physical Requirements
  • Job requires sitting, typing and viewing computer screens for long periods of time.
  • Function necessitates occasional walking to various locations in the facility.
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 20 lbs.
