Accounts Receivable Specialist

Schoolcraft, MI

Job Responsibilities
  • Accurately and efficiently process accounts receivable receipts.
  • Manage customer collections in accordance with policies.
  • Assist Controller and Accounting Manager with various projects, reports, and analysis as is required.
  • Provide support for A/R and Administrative duties.
Duties
  • Deposit and post incoming payments, and review aging to follow up with collection activities as necessary.
  • Retrieve electronic deposit reports from bank, Process check deposits, post payments into SAP and update cash management spreadsheet daily.
  • Communicate with customers immediately on payment discrepancies.
  • Maintain customers in database to ensure credit limits are updated as necessary in SAP & Atradius.
  • Provide credit references for existing customers.
  • Assist Customer Service, Sales Support, Purchasing and Logistics with various issues related to SAP processes.
  • Review aging reports, contact past due accounts and document collection efforts on all past due customers.
  • Reconcile intercompany and customer account balances monthly.
  • Participate in year-end physical inventory.
  • Assist Auditors with various requests.
  • Maintain Atradius standings/ credit limits as requested by Accounting Manager.
Minimum Job Requirements, Skills and Qualifications
  • High School Diploma.
  • Minimum 2+ years accounts receivables experience; Associates degree in accounting a plus.
  • Accounting job experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Adept in use of MS Office, particularly Outlook, Excel and Word.
  • Experienced with accounting software, preferably SAP.
  • Able to perform business math calculations.
  • Good typing skills (60 words per minute; 10-key).
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Detail oriented and able to multi-task in a demanding environment.
Certifications/Licenses
  • No specific certifications and licenses are required.
Interactions and Tools/Equipment Utilized in the Job
  • Interacts with customers and vendors on a regular basis (telephone, e-mail, fax, mail).
  • Consults with staff in Accounting, Purchasing, Logistics, HR, Sales, Customer Service, QA/QC and other departments as necessary.
  • Utilizes standard office equipment and computer work station.
Physical Requirements
  • The job requires sitting, typing and viewing computer screen for long periods of time.
Other Information
  • All rules and regulations of the Employee Handbook apply at all times.
  • Standard Work Hours: 8:00 am - 5:00 pm, Monday - Friday.
